Overview
The main hurdle the Concentrated Solar Thermal (CST) sector has been facing over the last decade in Europe is the assumed level of costs of Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plants and too strong a focus on CSP as only a flexibility provider for electricity systems.
To mitigate these hurdles, the CST4ALL project identifies an array of hybridization and cooperation initiatives at the interface between CST and other technologies for applications relevant to 3 key energy sectors (electricity, heat, and fuels) incorporating the work products from a diverse set of European Technology & Innovation Platforms (ETIPs).
CST4ALL is strongly aligned with current EU priorities (e.g., Smart Sector Integration, Fit for 55, and CETP) and specific energy strategies across the relevant Member States and aims to provide solutions to many of the most urgent challenges related to decarbonization and energy security.
The core outcome from CST4ALL is an intertwined set of workshops targeting both the industrial and Research and Innovation (R&I) communities. These shall bring together, better coordinate, and incentivize the interaction of the main stakeholders at key technology interfaces with the CST sector building on combined technological and non-technological improvements. Both the R&I and the industry perspectives are first analyzed aiming primarily at supporting and enlarging the network of active stakeholders in the CSP Implementation Working Group in the SET Plan and to raise the general awareness about the role CST can play in a future sustainable energy mix.
The workshops will result in specific proposals at EU-level from a cross-sector perspective to foster public/private funding for R&I and to create the necessary political/regulatory framework conditions for the execution of the new CSP Implementation Plan.
Workplan
CST4ALL consists of the following five Work Packages.

Consortium
CST4ALL is coordinated by the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and contains four R&I partners from 4 strategic countries: ESTELA (BE), CIEMAT-PSA (ES), ENEA (IT), and ODTU-GUNAM (TR).

Management
CST4ALL’s management structure including Work Package leaders is as follows:
